Yoga is the perfect compliment to the wide range of actions we make with our bodies daily. Hiking, running, swimming, sports, even long hours spent sitting at desks or driving can be balanced with yoga. As well as calming the nervous system and cultivating a deep intimacy with your own presence, the practice of yoga invites you to physical lengthen, soften, strengthen, broaden and ground.
During this special retreat, teacher and therapist Mars Gossi will generously share her considerable experience of using yoga to support other forms of fitness if your life. Morning classes will focus on a dynamic yang practice and afternoon workshops will explore specific postures in relation to the physical activities of the group as well as yin yoga practices and meditations to soothe and nourish tired muscles and minds.
Massage and energy treatments are a powerful way to deal with the aches and pains that many of us experience – either arising from stressful lives or ironically from the regular physical activities we enjoy to relieve that stress! A massage treatment is included in the price, and additional treatments are highly recommended to help your body heal during your week’s stay.
Morning meditations with Andrew Winter outside if the weather allows, or inside the glass and wooden shala floating above the valley will set up your day inviting you to become more intimate with the sensations happening in your body and your connection to the surrounding forests.
The menu this week has been designed to support both your yoga practice and your hiking or running - 3 nutritious meals a day to nourish the body and feed the soul. Food as therapy.
Everyone is welcome to come, particularly those who are seeking to use yoga as a way to balance their walking, running or sports. The schedule allows plenty of time every day to explore the surrounding forests. Enjoy endless miles of glorious hiking and running trails up and down the river valleys with stunning views along the meanders of the Rio Zézere up to the Serra da Estrela, the highest mountain in continental Portugal. You are unlikely to meet another person while on these woodland trails as Vale de Moses is located in one of the largest uninhabited wild pine forests in Europe. One of the reasons National Geographic and Forbes Magazine listed us in their Best Yoga Retreats of the world to visit.
Spend a week running wild and free in these beautiful hills. Experience deeply how yoga can help your body do what it loves to do, in a kind and loving way for years to come.
