Breath by breath, layer by layer. This retreat is about coming home to yourself- finding time and space to reconnect to what is important in life. Through yoga – meditation, pranayama and asana practices we discover and unravel. With joyful focus we practice and then we reap the benefits of the practice.
Through movement, rest and nourishing food we find balance. A calm nervous system, a healthy body and a peaceful mind. Acceptance, understanding and connection. Enjoying the simple abundance of the present moment, the magnificence of life itself. A rejuvenating, inspiring and cleansing experience. A sense of coming home to yourself.
This retreat is for all levels, ages and shapes of humans. Whether you are a beginner to yoga or you already have a practice, there is something (everything) for you. Together we will enjoy: beginning each day in silence, dynamic morning yoga practices inspired by Ashtanga, Vinyasa and Embodied flow. About the teacher
Emilie de la Chapelle is a movement enthusiast and bodywork therapist born in Finland. One particularly cold winter Emilie found herself in a small town on the East coast of Canada and her salvation became a hot yoga studio. Hot yoga lead her to Vinyasa/Hatha and eventually a yoga teacher training in Costa Rica, with many more to follow (RYT 500hr).
An interest in social justice and international politics drove her to study development studies and obtain a MA in Peace and Conflict studies. However, Emilie found a joy so strong in working with hands on healing that her dreams of becoming a war journalist were put aside as yoga/bodywork therapy became her full time occupancy and foremost passion. After years of studying and traveling she recently settled on the coast of Portugal in the old fisherman’s village Ericeira, where she manages a yoga retreat center and studio. When she isn’t teaching yoga or massaging you can be sure to find her in the water.
Growing up surrounded by nature, the biggest source of inspiration she has always found in the silence of the trees and the movement of the water. For Emilie, yoga is a continuous exploration of our existence. It is practices, rituals, and science that help us experience the magnificence of life. Yoga provides us with tools to understand how we can help, how we can heal ourselves, others, and mother earth.
Emilie practices and studies Ashtanga, Authentic Flow, Embodied Yin, Tantra and various types of bodywork therapies such as Thai Yoga Massage, Trigger point release therapy and osteopathy. As a sports and dance enthusiast, her yoga classes are inspired by different types of movement and music. She is caring, creative and present as a teacher. She aims to bring students back into their bodies, encouraging them to find their own patterns of movement. As a therapist, she meets each individual with curiosity, and with a lot of love and precision, finds the best way to unlock and release the body in to a state of deep relaxation.
